Gilchrist, picked up a prestigious Silver Award at this year's Starpack Awards, for its artwork on leading tea brand Twinings, new innovative Click Lock packaging.
Twinings wanted to change the structure of its tea bag carton packaging as it was being compromised when handled by consumers. To re-enforce the premium positioning of the brand, an innovative carton was created featuring a hinge lid and 'click lock' closure, allowing consumers to use the packaging for the life of the product without damaging its structure.
The new structure maintained Twinings' heritage, whilst incorporating new features of the pack within the design. Key artwork elements were repositioned to ensure branding was maximised and the aesthetic design of the pack was improved significantly.
Gilchrist, was awarded 'Creative Repro Company of the Year' at the prestigious PrintWeek Awards 2010.
For this award, the judges were looking for excellence in the use of retouching, masking and colour correction.
Gilchrist wowed the judges with its impressive attention to detail, with one hailing the work it carried out for John Brown Publishing on behalf of John Lewis as "simply breathtaking".
The level of entries rose again this year, driven by the tough market conditions and the increased need for businesses to set themselves apart from the competition with qualified differentiation.
"We had been a finalist for the previous 8 years and winner in 2008, so to take the top spot again in front of all our peers was something very, very special" says Paul Bean, Managing Director.
